Livingston Taylor arrived at the Cedarburg PAC on the morning of May 14th just in time to be interviewed by Milwaukee Public Television as an intro to their day of filming his visit to Cedarburg.
He then conducted a two hour workshop for 75 "students of all ages". He led students in various impromptu pieces and discussed the importance of audiences to a performer. In addition, he critiqued three amazing vocal students who performed selections they had prepared for the workshop. At the end of the workshop students gathered around him on the edge of the stage posing questions and receiving advice. Finally Taylor advised a young guitar player as the student played for him in our theater lobby. Taylor's background as a professor at Berklee College of Music was apparent throughout his visit.
That evening Livingston Taylor opened the show by inviting our senior intern, Maddie Arneson, to play the piano and sing the beautiful song "The Hill". Maddie was taken by surprise but performed like a professional. Taylor then spent the evening entertaining a happy audience with folk-songs, ballads, and numerous stories.
A few minutes ago one of our Founding Sponsors told me that the evening was one of his "all time 10 favorites". He isn't alone. It was a great show performed to a very appreciative audience! The entire performance was filmed by MPTV and will premier on July 15th on Channel 10 in Milwaukee.
